The NMS has already initiated the process of developing underground parking at Sunken Park. Machakos Country Bus Station will be next.

According to the NMS Director, the new parking space will be affordable and easily paid through mobile money. The attendants will also ease the efforts by offering to park the vehicles for the owners at the available spaces in the modernized parking building.

The NMS is also planning to convert on-street parking slots in Nairobi to non-motorized transport (NMT) corridors with pedestrian and cycling lanes in a bid to decongest the city.
