In a letter from the Office of the United Republic of Tanzania, President Dr. John Pombe Magufuli has declared the country coronavirus free.

The president has banned the wearing of masks, terming it as an act that would spread fear among citizens and affecting business.

In the letter dated 24th May 2020, the President also asked all public transport vehicles to resume their normal services and carry passengers to capacity. Also, he has ordered the immediate reopening of schools and all learning institutions.

Dr. Pombe has thanked Tanzanians for their relentless prayers that saw coronavirus find Tanzania a non-safe place to exist.

Regular hand washing, as per the communication is to continue as that is a normal hygiene routine.

Below the official communication addressed to all media houses (and the public at large).
