  • IMF and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance donate to Kenya
Five people together with their families in Old Town, Mombasa County have run away to an unknown location after testing positive for Covid-19. This is after the government directed that Eastleigh and Old Town estates (in Nairobi and Mombasa respectively) be put on cessation of movement. There was witnessed mass migration of residents to neighboring estates including South C and South B in Nairobi and into Kisauni, Likoni and Majengo in Mombasa.
Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has said authorities have began a manhunt for the five and their families
.
“We have observed that arising from the directives to stop movement in and out of Eastleigh and Old Town, some people have decided to sneak out and relocate in neighboring estates. This move is counterproductive and likely to transfer the disease to other areas.”
